Already…

It is our first day off… Time sure flies.

After 233 km through overwhelming scenery, crossing mountains on our very willing and sure-footed Arabian-Berber crossbreds all of us enjoy some leisure time at the Riad Lamane, Zagora.

After the first few days, a routine developed: getting up while it was still dark, packing your belongings, taking down our tents (no “tints”), help water and feed the horses, have breakfast while the sun rises, get the horses ready and move on.

Abdel and his excellent team make sure we are having a very good time and thanks to the cook we are being served delicious lunches and dinners in the middle of stunning scenery!
The whole team is in good spirits, everybody having gotten used to their horses. Long walks, some trotting and pleasant cantering for quite a while enable us to cover between 35 and 55 km per day.

Crossed the Remlia dune, the Ghris riverbed, went on to M’Harch plateau, from Jebel Zirg to Lmaaider, continued to Tismomime village and came to a stop at a huge oasis.
The first mountain crossing was an overwhelming and exhausting one as very quickly there was no more path, and the ascent was steep and stony… Thanks to all of you and especially to Abdel and Ibrahim to get us and the horses down safely!

The second mountain crossing was easier as there was a path… After 55 km and as another climax if the day having ridden through the oasis, we finally reached our destination for the day: a spot amongst palm trees.

The team already set up our tents, and de were all very happy to get to the routine of drinking mint tea before dinner!
